Indian equities are likely to open in positive territory on Wednesday, tracking firm cues from Nifty futures on the Singapore Stock Exchange and mixed trading across Asian markets after Wall Street ended lower in overnight trade. The investor sentiments were spooked by mounting geo-political tension on North Korea front and US President Donald Trump's abrupt dismissal of the FBI Director James Comey. Back home, bullish trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for May delivery, which were trading at 9,365.50, up by 15.50 points or 0.17 per cent, at 10:42 AM Singapore time, also signaled a positive opening for local bourses. The India Meteorological Department’s forecast of higher-than-expected monsoon this year may also fuel rally in the domestic market as it would boost economic growth. On the corporate front, Hero MotoCorp, Zee Entertainment, Bharat Dalmia, Phoenix Mills, Siemens, MIC Electronics and Kirloskar Oil Engines will remain in focus as they will unveil March quarter earnings report today. Among others, Housing and Urban Development Corporation (Hudco) initial public offering got subscribed 3 times on the second day of the public offer on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the key benchmarks ended flat with marginal gains, helped by strong buying across capital goods, metal and power stocks, tracking mixed cues from Asian peers after the Wall Street ended flat in overnight trade. The market gains were restricted as traders awaited corporate earnings of index heavyweights, Bharti Airtel, Petronet LNG, InterGlobe Aviation and Future Retail due later today and Hero MotoCorp tomorrow. Adding to it, selling across consumer durables and banking stocks also restricted upmove. The 30-share barometer SENSEX closed at 29933.25, up by 7.1 points or by 0.02 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 9316.85, up by 2.8 points or by 0.03 per cent.
